Congratulations! You have found THE place to procure the most delicious, healthy and responsibly harvested seafood!
The advantages of eating seafood: Fish is loaded with nutrients that are crucial for healthy aging, such as high-quality protein, iodine, selenium, and zinc. And it has more vitamins B12 and D—necessary for brain health and bone health, respectively—than any other food you can eat. But perhaps most important, it’s the best source of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. These polyunsaturated fats, found in all cell membranes, help cells communicate with each other and have been linked to a lower risk of many conditions. “Omega-3s have been shown to reduce blood clots [which can cause heart attack or stroke] because they prevent blood platelets from getting sticky,” says Julia Zumpano, R.D., a dietitian at the Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. “They also lower triglycerides—fat that can accumulate in the arteries—reduce blood pressure and inflammation and increase levels of good cholesterol.”
Omega-3 fatty acids also appear to help prevent other problems that can come with growing older, such as muscle as muscle and bone loss—and possibly even cognitive issues The health effects are so widespread that a 2018 study of older adults published in The BMJ found that having higher blood levels of omega-3s from fish is linked to healthier aging—reducing the risk of having a chronic disease or serious mental or physical problem by 24 percent compared with having low levels.
Cooking fish can feel intimidating. People who don’t live in a coastal area where fish is readily available or who didn’t grow up eating a lot of fish might not have the first idea about how to prepare it. To get started, we recommend taking a filet of flounder or sole—or whatever healthy fish you like—drizzling olive oil on both sides, squeezing a little lemon on top, and broiling until it turns opaque and flaky. We are happy to help with your preparation questions.
Sustainably Harvested and prepared for you: Our fish is pole caught and flash frozen on the boat. We offer vacuum sealed packaging in individual portions on most items. Our seafood is never dyed or sprayed with STPP (sodium tri-polyphosphate). Grocery stores spray this chemical on seafood to help keep it moist. There are no regulations on the use of this nasty chemical so 1 piece of fish could be sprayed by the commercial fisherman, the processing plant, the warehouse, the shipper and the grocer. We do not source our seafood from commercial fisherman that use nets that are detrimental to the oceans and seas.
Our shrimp are sustainably harvested from their natural environment in the Gulf of Mexico. Our scallops are diver caught. Our Chilean Sea bass comes from Chile. Not farmed in China. Our salmon comes from Norway and Alaska. We also offer Copper River King Salmon from the Copper river in Alaska when in season.
What makes Copper River salmon so special? These fantastic fish are the crown jewel of the salmon world. In preparation for their herculean task of swimming up the 300 mile Copper River these salmon pack on rich energy reserves – evident in the copious supply of healthy and delicious omega-3 fatty acids stored in their bodies.
